We currently have a career opportunity for a full-time Financial Education Specialist based out of our corporate office (Enterprise) in Appleton!
The Financial Education Specialist is an education-orientation position with a main objective of helping our members, team members, community partners and students achieve financial independence and security. This person will be responsible for creating and developing financial literacy content for use in presenting and educating our members. Through outreach, they will promote these tools and resources to connect and build relationships in our community with the goal of becoming their financial education credit union of choice.
The primary responsibilities of the Financial Education Specialist role include but are not limited to:
- Create, develop, and update financial literacy content and curriculum for use with our members, team members, community partners and schools. Analyze and evaluate data to measure success and improve our reach and penetration with our initiatives
- Develop and oversee a schedule of seminars, webinars and presentations that offer sound financial education for our Fox team and members. Choose presenters, implement, and host programs. Create marketing plans and timelines
- Promote and support financial education through community organization outreach and involvement. Uncover, initiate, and develop relationships with non-profits, businesses, schools, and other community partners
- Work with Marketing to manage the publishing of educational tools and information provided to our members on all channels: Fox website, social media, blogs, relevant brochures, newsletter articles, radio programs, etc. Publish periodic financial education content for our team members on Fox Central. Write articles and press releases as needed
- In consultation with the Financial Wellness Manager, periodically review and promote our third-party consumer web tools including Balance, SavvyMoney, and It's a Money Thing. Ensure we are using these web tools to the best of our ability. Measure and increase usage
- Spearhead the following educational events including, but not limited to: Financial Literacy Month, Money Smart Week, International Credit Union Week, Youth Week, High School Reality Days, Finance & Investment Challenge Bowl, etc.
- Manage educational initiatives with schools. Utilize existing tools and content to develop age-appropriate engaging and interactive classroom presentations. Coordinate and track all Fox educational involvement. (Including but not limited to: Classroom presentations, Career Fairs, and Junior Achievement.) Primary contact for principals and teachers in all the communities we serve
- Develop youth and teen programs within the credit union to focus on financial literacy
- Coordinate the use of our Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor team members to present material and represent the credit union at financial education events
Candidates for the Financial Education Specialist position should possess:
- Two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school
- Required to obtain the Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation through CUNA's FiCEP program. Certification fees are paid for by Fox Communities Credit Union
- One to three years of similar or related experience
- Knowledge of education principles in learning is a plus
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Passion for wanting to increase financial literacy for all
- Proficient at public speaking and conducting webinars
- Professionalism with well-developed communication necessary for working in a team environment and projecting a positive image as a representative of the credit union
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
- Ability to facilitate interactive discussions with students and adults of all ages
- Self-starter and ability to effectively work independently
- Creative marketing skills
- Attention to detail and superior organization and planning skills
